His incredible 2024 Chardonnay shows that he can really do it all. The man is a maven in the vineyard, passing 3-10 times before finally picking each row, trying to nail down the perfect ripenesss. Then he goes to work in blending the same way for a Chardonnay that he would his world-class Cabernet. Barrel by barrel with unrivaled patience. The result is a fierce, incredibly impressive, powerful Chardonnay with juicy notes of lemon, pineapple, and Asian pear practically bursting from the bottle. There’s some great texture and tension as well, no doubt aided by the extreme cool-climate that this beauty is made from. It’s perfectly in balance with so many intricacies to lend out. What a debut showing – a 99-pointer in his first vintage of this new release, and a masterpiece to drink now or hold.
