93 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
Pouring a deeper ruby/magenta color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley is ripe and layered in the glass, with a generous, inviting, pure perfume of black cherries, cola, sweet baking spice, and forest floor. Medium-bodied, it has a lot of charm and a good, weightless feel, with fine tannins and a clean finish. I love that it never feels heavy but is 100% Russian River Valley in character. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. This is a lot of wine for the value.
Hartford Court Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 2022
93 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
Their 2022 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir perfectly embodies everything that’s made Hartford famous. It absolutely blows away most people’s entry-level bottlings throughout the Sonoma Coast. Jeb Dunnuck awarded it 93 points, praising its “generous, inviting, pure perfume of black cherries, cola, sweet baking spice, and forest floor.” There’s just a lot to like here – you get so many waves of pristine, vibrant fruit.
At this price, we’re talking about a serious value from a producer whose single-vineyard bottlings routinely command $70-100+. Dunnuck summed it up perfectly: “This is a lot of wine for the value.” I couldn’t agree more.

MORE INFO
When it comes to Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, few names command as much respect in wine circles as Hartford Court. This isn’t just another California winery – it’s an institution that has consistently produced some of the most sought-after single-vineyard Pinots and Chardonnays in America.
The story of Hartford’s meteoric rise reads like a winemaking fairy tale. Founded in 1993, they were serving their wines at the White House within just four years. Robert Parker quickly declared them among “the upper echelon of Pinot Noir producers in Northern California,” and their trophy case has been expanding ever since.
The Hartford Court secret sauce relates to their belief that difficult vineyard sites produce wines of unmatched personality and depth. This approach has earned them a staggering collection of 95+ point scores and placements on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list year after year.
