The estate, located in the village of Brauneberg, has a history spanning over a century, with Stefan’s father, also named Günther, establishing the reputation for quality that the winery holds today.

The Steinmetz family is dedicated to a “natural viticulture” philosophy, which means they avoid the use of herbicides, insecticides, and fertilizers. They also carefully control yields and hand-harvest all of their grapes from extremely steep vineyard slopes, a labor-intensive process that ensures the highest quality fruit. In the cellar, their philosophy of minimal intervention is king. The wines are fermented spontaneously with native yeasts and are made without any additives.
