Groth Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 2022

95 Points, Decanter – 92 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate

The 2022 Groth Oakville release is one of the best Cabernet values in Napa Valley right now. Decanter gave it 95 points, calling it “a graceful yet powerful wine destined to impress with patience.” Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate came in slightly lower at 92, but called it “an impressive value for an Oakville AVA Cabernet- streamlined and silky with impressive length and elegance.”

What I love about Groth Cabernets are the range they show, and the layers that are always there to unpack. Of course you have the powerful blue and black fruits, but then there’s also toffee, cocoa and fresh tobacco components with incredibly grippy tannins that offer structure and lend this wine some serious ageability.

Original price was: $80.00.Current price is: $55.00.

95 Points, Decanter
The 2022 vintage delivers a beautifully elegant yet structured expression. Its medium-bodied presence is framed by a firm backbone of acidity that supports robust, gritty tannins. Though slightly nervy in early 2024, time will bring greater harmony, softening the tannins and allowing the rich, toasty oak spices, clove, and cedarwood to integrate seamlessly. This is undoubtedly a graceful yet powerful wine destined to impress with patience.

Groth Winery, nestled right in the heart of Napa Valley’s Oakville district, is one of America’s most iconic and well-respected wineries.

Founded in 1982, Groth immediately started making exceptional wines as evident by their 1985 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon becoming the first ever domestic wine to receive a 100-point score from the legendary Robert Parker, Jr.

The winery’s commitment to sustainable farming practices and meticulous attention to detail has earned them a reputation for producing wines that are both elegant and powerful.
