94 Points, Vinous
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is fabulous. Moreover, it shows the important strides that have been made here in recent years. A wine of depth as well as energy, the Oakville Cabernet is both complete and absolutely delicious. Time brings out a whole range of leather spice and chocolate notes to play off a core of intense, dark-fleshed fruit… In a word: impressive

Perhaps no winery is more synonymous with an AVA than Groth is with Oakville. Their 1985 Reserve Cabernet holds the distinction of being Robert Parker’s first-ever 100-point score awarded to a domestic wine. That was just the beginning.

Since then, they’ve appeared on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list eight times, including the most recent time with this, their 2016 Oakville Reserve, a 96-point age-worthy beauty that is easily one of the best California Cabernet collectors items out there.
