“This has more of an earthy character with chocolate and hazelnuts with ripe, wild berries in the background. Medium-bodied with depth and succulence to the fruit and polished tannin structure. Chalky and mineral on the finish with hints of herbs and spices.”

“Spiced plums lead the way on this inky and darkly hued Dolcetto. As the wine develops notes of sage and violets lift out of the glass. The plush blackberry fruit drives the palate as savory flavors give twist on the finish.”
90 Points, Vinous
“The 2022 Langhe Dolcetto is a very pretty, floral wine with lovely red cherry fruit and fine balance. This mid-weight, old-school Dolcetto is an absolute delight. The style is one more of restraint and freshness rather than power.”
For Piedmont wine lovers, Giuseppe Cortese is a dream come true. This small, family-run winery, nestled in the heart of the famed Rabajà zone in Barbaresco, is a testament to the Cortese family’s deep understanding of the Nebbiolo grape. Giuseppe’s passion for winemaking began alongside his father, Giacomo.
Recognizing the potential of Barbaresco’s terroir, Giuseppe modernized the family business, improving winemaking techniques and acquiring prime Rabajà vineyard land. Today, with his son Piercarlo, wife Rosella, and daughter Tiziana all involved, Cortese crafts exceptional, terroir-driven Barbaresco wines, combining traditional methods with a gentle touch of modern technique.
Their winery and family home perch atop the Rabajà cru, one of Barbaresco’s finest vineyards, while their nearby bed and breakfast in Trifolera offers stunning views of the Nebbiolo-covered hills. Giuseppe’s prior experience managing vineyards and cellars for some of Piedmont’s top producers gave him invaluable insight into coaxing the very best from his red wine grapes, knowledge that now shines through in every bottle.
