America’s most iconic Cabernet brand, Caymus, returns with their new Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that gives you everything that you want from a Napa Valley Big Red Cab. But this isn’t like the other 750s or even the famous 1L bottling. This is their uber rare, highly allocated 1.5L Magnum release for the first time ever on Nicholas Wines!
Year in, year out, Caymus’ Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is absolutely fantastic. The “secret sauce” is really just that there are no bad vintages. The Wagners’ commitment to making great Cabernet is second to none and so are their resources.
With access to arguably the very best vineyards in each of their choice AVAs throughout the valley, the Wagner Family cherry picked the grapes for their newly released 2021 Napa Valley Cabernet from 8 of the valley’s 16 AVAs – contracts they’ve been quietly nurturing for years. It’s a huge wine- rich and opulent with mountains of juicy black fruit, currants and a lingering cocoa finish.

Opus One due to the massive demand for the iconic wine has ballooned in prices to nearly $700/bottle. For that reason, I have no problem suggested the lights out second wine from this epic winery – the Operture. Overture is a multi-vintage cuvée of all five Bordeaux grape varieties, selected and seamlessly blended together to showcase the style and character of its big brother but in a much more approachable and ready to drink package. The new release combines the fantastic 2018 and 2019 vintages and does so flawlessly.
WS #4 2019 Wine of the Year, 96 Points, Wine Spectator
2016 was an incredibly special year in Napa Valley. It was essentially the 5th straight vintage of near perfect-conditions and a lot of the big boys produced some of their biggest, most elegant Cabernets to date. Groth’s was still one of the standouts in any group, a deeply concentrated, weighty Cab with sappy, juicy fruit and a carefully intertwined tannic structure. Absolutely gorgeous.
“Belle Glos’ first wine under the newly minted West Sonoma Coast AVA and a cellared release, this majestic vineyard brings plum with a slight burnt edge in the glass and boasts aromas of freshly tilled land, a rich oak forest in Autumn, and Crème de Cassis. Once on the palate, the acidity sparks a fire of smoked caramel and cinnamon spiked cranberry sauce.

Their beloved Napa Valley Cabernet comes from a who’s who of the best vineyard sites in Napa. It’s a seamless Cabernet blend sourced from Oakville, Stag’s Leap, Diamond Mountain, St. Helena, Calistoga, Oak Knoll and the winery’s estate fruit in Yountville.
