This Barolo is a masterful blend of Nebbiolo from premier sites in La Morra (Gattera, Conca, Bricco Manescotto, Annunziata), Serralunga d’Alba (Cerretta, Teodoro), and Diano d’Alba (Sorano). The vines grow in calcareous clay soils at 250-300 meters elevation on steep slopes (20-60% gradient) – ideal conditions for producing complex, aromatic Nebbiolo.

Italian specialist James Suckling came in at a whopping 95-points, dubbing it a “precise, layered, very floral wine” that is “almost drinkable now due to its elegance but best in two or three years.” But, I’m going to push back on that a little. This wine is already so approachable and delicious, if you can just give it 15-25 minutes to open up, I think you will be absolutely blown away.

“The tension and linearity of this wine are incredible, as fresh, vivid fruit flavors ride an electric wave of bracing acidity from the first whiff to the long, lingering finish. Layers of haunting mushroom, iron and bay leaf nuances meet cranberries, sour cherries, rhubarb and black tea flavors that linger and echo after the last sip. An impeccable wine for drinking now through at least 2032.”

This classic Barolo blends vineyards in Serralunga with holdings in La Morra and demonstrates joyful youthfulness without sacrificing a more profound, serious side. It has lovely definition of cherry, nutmeg & brushwood aromas & succulent acidity which accentuates the bright red berry character before darker, earthy elements take hold. The palate is taut & securely framed with decisive tannins promising a solid mid-term stint in the cellar.”

The Revello story is one of passionate dedication to craft. About a decade ago, brothers Enzo and Carlo took over their father’s nine-hectare estate in La Morra and almost immediately became one of the hottest producers in the region. Working closely with legends Elio Altare and Beppe Caviola, they transformed their family estate into a powerhouse of traditional Piedmontese winemaking.

The family’s recent hot streak, with some of the highest scores coming over the last few years, is already a testament to the next generation generation. Enzo’s son Simone and daughter Elena run the show, and have taken on a slightly new approach. The new direction combines respect for tradition with subtle modern techniques that enhance the expression of their exceptional terroir (think less oak influence, more pure-fruited wines).
