Forman Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

$135.00

Ric planted vineyards right near his house in 1979 for the purpose of growing Bordeaux varieties that he could use to start his namesake Cabernet brand. By the time he started Forman, he was already a Napa legend of sorts having been the founder of both Duckhorn and Sterling. He’s been one of the best for decades.

His two estate vineyards are in St. Helena and the Rutherford Bench, two ideal locations that Ric had fallen in love with over the years. The sites both have volcanic rock, gravelly loam, and sand which help create rich, age-worthy and complex Cabernet Sauvignons.

It’s been years since I’ve been able to score any of Ric Forman’s Cabernet. Over those years, as you can imagine – prices have gone up across the board in his portfolio (along with the rest of Napa). But one thing that hasn’t remotely changed is the sheer quality of his Cabernets – they’re truly some of the best of the best.

97 Points, Vinous
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is rich, heady wine. Even though it was just bottled, the 2019 possesses remarkable textural intensity. A whole range of floral and savory notes open as this statuesque Cabernet shows off its personality. This is an especially rich, bombastic Cabernet from Ric Forman. That is especially evident when tasted next to the 2018.”

96 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
“Similarly hued, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley offers a classic, old school Napa Cabernet nose of darker currants, green tobacco, spring flowers, camphor, and new leather. As with the 2018, it plays in a more medium to full-bodied, elegant style, has ripe yet certainly present tannins, and a great finish. The 2019 is more accessible and open than the 2018 and should continue drinking brilliantly for another two decades if stored correctly.”
