Foris Pinot Noir Rouge Valley 2024

93 Points (Editors’ Choice), Wine Enthusiast – 92 Points, James Suckling

Wine Enthusiast didn’t just rate this wine incredibly high. They told people to hunt it down: “Pinot Noir fans should do everything possible to find this incredible value.” That’s not subtle. That’s an Editors’ Choice and an emphatic recomendation to their readers!

This 2024 Pinot Noir is 100% estate fruit from Foris’ two gorgeous vineyards: Cedar Ranch and Maple Ranch. Everything here was hand-harvested, de-stemmed, whole cluster fermented in small bins. The amount of work is staggering, but this labor of love pays off in spades especially in fantastic years like 2024

Just read Wine Enthusiast’s review below, it’s so good – I had to post it in its entirety:

“Pinot Noir fans should do everything possible to find this incredible value. It all starts with ripe red cherry and tart blackberry aromas playing off of one another in fine sweet-tart fashion. Additional aromas of black tea and loamy soil linger in the background. Then comes a delightful blackcap raspberry jam flavor that is balanced by lemony acidity and fine-grained tannins. There is also this baked good flavor that, appropriately enough given the raspberry jam, comes across like a warm sourdough biscuit. The wine’s texture is extraordinarily silky, like sliding into a bed made with 600 thread count sheets.”

Original price was: $26.00.Current price is: $19.99.

Aromas of bright red fruit, dried herbs, flowers, cocoa and spices. The palate is full-bodied with supple tannins, balanced acidity and a fresh, juicy finish. Drink now. Screw cap.

Foris has been a pioneering fixture in Oregon wine for over 40 years now. The Gerber family planted their first vineyard on the terrace of the Siskiyou Mountains, and they’ve been consistent ever since. They’re one of the state’s true pioneers in Oregon’s ‘Wild West’ managing 188 acres of estate vineyard just 25 miles from the Pacific Ocean. I’ve been down there before and I can tell you first hand – those folks know what they’re doing!

This 2024 is 100% estate fruit from their two gorgeous vineyards: Cedar Ranch and Maple Ranch. Everything here was hand-harvested, de-stemmed, whole cluster fermented in small bins. The amount of work is staggering, but in vintages like 2024, every cluster the crew brought in was more beautiful and healthy than the next.
