Ettore Germano Rosanna Brut Rose NV

Sommeliers have known forever, Melissa and I had a glass of it every time we sat at the bar at Maialino or Locanda Verde over the last few years. Besides being one the very best complements to scallop crudo or a plate of prosciutto, this level of elegance, complexity and length in Champagne starts at $50 and quickly escalates from there. Last I looked, Clicquot goes for $60, Billecart for $70 and a whopping $350 for Dom. That’s why wines like this are so dang special.
The critics know now too. This was hard to track down before the critics got to it as it’s long been a sweet spot for NYC fine dining. You can see it all over the city for $25-$30/glass. But at our price today, you’re getting a bottle for less than a glass when included in a case order. That’s just crazy.
Sergio’s most elegant wine is also his rarest and most unique. Rosanna is a sparkling rosé of nebbiolo, vinifed in the method of champagne. The source of its great vibrancy, the tension and length is the chalky soil of Serralunga, the premier village for Barolo. Mouthwateringly dry, it’s high toned and racy with just incredible acidity. One of the world’s great aperitifs and lights out at any table, do not miss. 94 points and a review that gets it right on the money. This is a beauty!

Original price was: $38.00.Current price is: $32.95.

The NV Extra Brut Rose Rosanna is a pleasure to take in with its bouquet of sweet roses and white smoke accentuating strawberries and wet stone. It’s silky smooth with a salty mineral core and creamy waves of fine bubbles that give way to citrus-laced white cherry. This lingers long yet zesty and fresh with a bitter tinge that keeps the mouth watering for more. The Rosanna is a varietal Nebbiolo.

90 Points, Vinous Media

Bone-dry, with lifted aromatics, pristine fruit and the tiniest bubbles this side of Epernay, Sergio Germano’s Rosanna is a brilliant homage to Champagne. But while Sergio pays respect to the greats of Rose Champagne, he absolutely blows them away with price. This is arguably the best Sparkler from Italy, and one of the very best sparkling wines anywhere in the wrold under $35. This is crisp, it’s spicy, it’s complex and it’s a as Eric Guido of Vinous describes it, “a pleasure to take in”.
