Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Whiskey Batch A122 (120.8 Proof)

Category

Elijah Craig enjoys a heck of a reputation in the whiskey world. Today they operate as the largest, independent family-owned Bourbon distillery in the world. A lot of their success is owed to their Barrel Proof project that has the big whiskey enthusiasts salivating with each passing release. I was lucky enough to snag a few bottles when they came out in January.

This batch is straight from the barrel without chill filtering and is a predominantly corn mash that is 12-years of age.  Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is a bold and honest expression of what charred oak barrel aging can do for Bourbon, from the man who originated the process. These are hard to resist as Collector’s Items because they’re so dang appealing even in their youth. Batch A122 is an absolutely fine latest installment from the folks at EC.

Original price was: $149.00.Current price is: $105.00.

Whiskey of the Year, Whiskey Advocate

This is a gorgeous Kentucky bourbon and a rare one to boot. This is a 12-year old that was originally released in January and quickly got gobbled up in the primary markets. With good reason too – this one is a total crowd pleaser. At a slightly lower proof than some of its predecessors, Batch A122 is silky smooth with inviting aromas of Rye spice, caramel and toasted vanilla oak. It’s offers those campfire flavors with the creamy marshmallow middle and a long and strong finish that reminds you incase you forgot that this beauty is all of its 60.4% alc.
