(2 Btls) Bieler Pere et Fils Sabine Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence Rose 2023
The Sabine Rosé is made each year as a blend of their best fruit sourced from within the sub-region. They’ve been working with the same growers now since their inception, a key ingredient of the continued excellence that this father-son pair has enjoyed. As of late, the duo is making some of the very best Pink wines in all of France, maybe even the world. Certainly, there’s no one right now producing greater values than what the Bielers are able to create. Take their 2023 Provence Rose as a perfect example: a lights out, bone-dry yet succulent, food-friendly treat that once again saw a 90+ point review, their eighth consecutive vintage achieving that feat.
(2 Btls) Corzano e Paterno Il Corzanello Bianco 2023
This is a special Italian white that is going to absolutely steal the show at any pasta or pizza night. Corzano’s Toscana Bianco is a racy blend of six varieties, native and French, drawn from vines rooted in the gravelly, clay and limestone-rich soils of Chianti. After a cold fermentation in steel, blocking malolactic fermentation, the result is a mineral accented white and yellow fruit core that finishes beautifully fresh with lingering acidity. This ‘White Chianti’ is a rare and elegant treat. It’s also a treat to drink outside on the deck over some grilled vegetables, fish or poultry.
(2 Btls) Roc des Anges Côtes Catalanes Effet Papillon Blanc 2023
This is a French white wine value that is at least a cut above the rest in its category, if not two or three It’s super crisp with a great mineral streak and pure and juicy stone fruits. The vibrancy and tension here isn’t surprising considering it was carefully picked by hand when the temperature is coolest and is kept cool all the way into the press. From there, the effect of the mineral soil takes over, providing great finesse and freshness in every bottle. It’s a racy white blend has great backbone and a lot of juicy fruit coming through behind aromas of flowers and fruit. This is definitely more interesting than your standard Loire Sauv Blanc!
(2 Btls) Planeta La Segreta Rosso 2021
This is a killer Sicilian Red Blend that shows just how innovative and hot Southern Italian wine is right now. This one masterfully blends indigenous favorite Nero d’Avola with Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc for a pump, juicy Big Red in the style of a Bordeaux. Everything here from the nose, to the mouthfeel to the finish is completely dialed in. It’s the kind of Pizza wine that makes you wonder if it’s ‘too good’ to just be a pizza wine. It comes with double 91-point scores from both James Suckling and Wine Enthusiast who both gushed over this wine. I can see why – it’s got mass appeal.
(2 Btls) Double Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon Horse Heaven Hills 2022
This is an incredible Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington state that has become over the years a Nicholas Wines staple due to the amount of people who demand I keep bringing this back every time it sells out. There’s a lot of structure and depth to the wine that sets up well as it starts to hit its prime. It leads with notes of raspberry, cranberry, cocoa and blackberry pie, with a rich palate of velvety tannins and the lip-smacking acidity so often associated with the better wines of the region. So much better than any Napa Valley in this price point – it’s not even close.
(2 Btls.) Three Wine Co. Zinfandel Contra Costa County 2021
Fresh off its feature as one of Wine Spectator’s ‘Exciting California Values Under $25’, winemaker Matt Cline looks to stay hot with his release of the 2021 Contra Costa Zinfandel. This one is a beauty crafted off old-vines that are now between between 110-145 years in age! No body else can say that in California. It is a wine that couldn’t be any more perfect for BBQ. There’s a ton of purple and black fruit that drive this one with a dusting of baking spice and some sweet oak. The fruit is pure, fresh and long making it both delicious on its own or terrific with a burger, anything off the grill or nuts and hard cheeses. An amazing value, and always a customer favorite!
