Domaine Reverdy-Ducroux Sancerre Beauroy 2018

I say this only to warn you that this one will not last long. The 2018 vintage in Sancerre was monumental. Winemakers were the first to sing its praises. Alphone Mellot declared “This is a mythical vintage – 1947 but with quantity!” Jolivet agreed, chiming in that, “The 2018 vintage is one of the most exceptional vintages that we’ve seen in the past 50 years.” I’ll ‘help out’ with any Sancerre, especially abandoned 2018 Sancerre I assumed was long gone. 

Domaine Reverdy-Ducroux traces its roots back to 1550, but with 14th generation winemaker Laurent now at the helm, they have not been sitting on their laurels. The last 20 years have been spent transforming the historic estate to best capture the individual essence of each of their distinct 70 micro-plots. 

The ‘Beauroy’ is selected from those parcels that cut right through the center of the estate creating a dynamic and beautifully round expression of Sauvignon as you find on the best clay/limestone type soils near the town of Verdigny. Bright citrus, phenomenal balance, the 2018 Reverdy-Ducroux has a super long, harmonious finish.
