From the first time I visited with Romain Reverdy in Verdigny, I’ve been blown away by this young star who is undoubtedly one of the most promising young vignerons of the appellation. His 2024’s have just come in and they’re completely lights out. It’s incredible how he shows off the rich fruit intensity and power of the vintage with bursting stone fruits that come in waves and show the complexity of the vintage as well.
The vineyards there are mostly rooted in “Caillotes” (small limestone pebbles and rocks with compacted chalky marl) and “Terres Blanches” (Kimmeridgian marl) and with a very small amount of silex (flint).
The whites are precise with a certain softness, but with very tight structure that, stylistically—of recent—are reminiscent of the great Sancerre of the 80’s.
