Domaine Laroche Chablis Saint Martin 2023
The newly released 2023 Domaine Laroche Chablis Saint Martin has some big shoes to fill as the last five vintages have earned 92-points or higher, but the early indications are that this is line with previous vintages if not even a little bit ahead at this stage. The problem is – there’s almost none to go around with much smaller yields. Still this is beautiful and crisp, with good focus, energy and depth. I get the signature green fruits on the nose, with some Asian pear, and a hint of jasmine blossom. There’s a beautiful mineral streak that highlights this one. It’s a fantastic White Burg for the price.

Classy, understated style of Chablis with a great balance between ripeness of fruit and powerful acidity. The palate has a creamy texture with no jagged edges and fine, mineral characters coming through on the finish. Real purity and drive here – one of the best Saint Martin Chablis I’ve tried.
If it was sourced an hour and change south, it would be double the price.
One of my favorite estates is Domaine Laroche, one of the venerable estates of Burgundy with a lineage in Chablis that can be traced back 1000 years. That’s 4 zeros in that number….so after that long, you’d think they would have it down. They definitely do.
50 miles south, this would easily fetch eighty bucks but today this absolutely electric Chablis from a fantastic estate can be had for a fraction of the price. Pair with roasted poultry, mushroom dishes, anything from the sea and cream sauces for your own date night!
