Janine and Teddy Crochet’s tiny domaine in the heart of Sancerre had just hit its stride in NYC. Near the entirety of their US allocations of Sancerre Blanc were reserved for guests at the Union Square Hospitality Group, Gramercy Tavern, Union Square Café, Manhatta and The Modern.
The price is unheard of for artisanally produced, estate bottled Sancerre. Super intense aromatics with crisp stone fruits, Asian pear and that signature Bue minerality streak. Vibrant fruit and acidity with tremendous balance and depth. It’s a Sancerre that is only going to get better over the next couple of years.

It is the quintessential summer-white, this electric white wine is best served cool with any kind of seafood. My favorite? Lobster rolls!
The 2016 vintage in Napa was nearly perfect for winemaker Kian Tavakoli (Opus One, Clos du Val). With ideal weather all throughout harvest, he crafted the Faustini Money Road Chardonnay off the famous vineyard located in the coveted Oakville AVA. The picturesque vineyard off Oakville Crossroad is platinum rated, known for its ideal combination of soil & climate and the big A list names that routinely source fruit. Kian’s Money Road Chard is still youthful despite having a few years of age, probably as a result of its 18 months of slumber in 1/4 new Oak.
It’s no wonder this is a hot little ticket amongst some of NYC’s best restaurants; this is a killer wine at a great price. The 2022 Petit Chablis has an attractive nose of citrus rind, white flowers, and wet stone. In the palate, the wine is racy and mineral with just a touch of salinity. The hallmark of the great 2022s will be tension and length and Sébastien’s little wine has both in spades. The acidic/mineral cut will make this fantastic at the table and a great candidate for short term aging.
95 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The former assistant winemaker and apprentice for Helen Turley at Marcassin, Matt Courtney left to start something special at Arista in 2013 and is well on his way. The winery has expanded, their waitlist for bottle allocations now stands at 18-months and every critic in America raves about these wines. His newly released 2019 Arista Russian River Valley Chard is a gem, one that earned 95 pts from Parker’s Wine Advocate who called it, “wonderfully inviting to drink and impressive quality.”
We’re nearing the end of what was a flawlessly crafted, high energy coastal Chardonnay release from one of California’s hottest spots. It’s still every bit as bright and refreshing as you could want and it hits with clean, pristine green apple fruits, pears and citrus notes with a hint of that limestone-influenced minerality. It’s a fantastic wine for all seasons, the perfect pair with mixed seafood, summer tomatoes, corn and freshly caught fish.
