Domaine Denizot, a rising star in the Loire Valley, was first brought to our attention by the amazing Dominique Roger, who recognized them as one of the region’s most promising young producers.
My visit to the estate confirmed their unwavering commitment to both quality and sustainable practices, a dedication that has earned them a strong reputation locally. They blend a deep respect for tradition with a willingness to innovate, crafting wines that vividly express the unique terroir of their vineyards. Thibauld Denizot, a sixth-generation winemaker, now leads the estate with his wife Jennifer, continuing a family legacy that has shaped the region’s viticulture for generations.
While their cellar is located in Verdigny, their family’s roots lie in Amigny, which accounts for the majority of their Sancerre parcels. Their vineyards, mostly planted on rocky Caillottes limestone, include prized plots in Les Bouffants and Côte de l’Épée. The remaining vines grow on Terres Blanches, soils rich in Kimmeridgian marl.
Recently, they’ve expanded their operation in Pouilly-Fumé, acquiring vineyards on Silex and Terres Blanches soils, adding another dimension to their already impressive portfolio. I can promise you, Denizot is a name to watch, as they continue to refine their craft and explore the potential of their exceptional terroir.
