90 Points, Parker’s Wine Advcoate
“Under screw cap, the De Wetshof Estate 2024 Robertson Limestone Hill Chardonnay offers a simple delivery of citrus, pomelo and wild sage. The wine focuses on brightness and is extremely drinkable, but perhaps it’s a little less complex compared to all the other very different Chardonnays in this portfolio. You get a pretty note of latex or natural rubber, which I really like. This wine is unoaked, and that’s what sets it apart.”

90 Points, James Suckling
“A crisp chardonnay that has notes of crushed rocks, lemon rind, grapefruit and peaches. It’s medium- to full-bodied with mouthwatering freshness and minerality. Vegan. Drink now.”

Led by the “Pioneer of South African Chardonnay”, Danie De Wet, De Wetshof has been one of SA’s top white wine producers for decades. . De Wet’s pioneering spirit is evident in his constant experimentation with Chardonnay dating back to the 1970s. He tirelessly explored the impact of oak aging, soil types, and different grape clones on the final product.

After more than 25 years of meticulous soil research and mapping, De Wet identified the ideal vineyard locations for expressive and elegant Chardonnay. He discovered that the alluvial soils near the Breede River and the limestone-rich slopes above offered the perfect combination to unlock the grape’s full potential. Since cracking the code in the early 2000s, De Wetshof has arguably become the undisputed leader in South African Chardonnay, consistently producing wines of exceptional quality.
