99 Points (Wine of the Year), Tim Atkin
98 Points, Decanter – 97 Points, Vinous
Each year this wine further makes a case for itself as one of the best made in the world, not just South Africa. Callie Louw’s Porseleinberg is magnificent, a pure joy to drink, a collector and is sold out pretty much every single place on the planet besides here right now. This one received it’s highest ever score from Neil Martin and Vinous with a 97-point review in which he deemed the wine, “…utterly refined and intense yet sophisticated. A quite stunning wine.” Matt Walls of Decanter echoed that sentiment in their 98-point review calling the wine, “a truly great Syrah.”
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate was the first critical voice to fall in love, declaring: “He [Duncan Savage] makes some of South Africa’s greatest wines either at Cape Point Vineyards and the bijou namesake label.” The fresh to death 2022 Salt River Sauvignon Blanc just arrived and it’s a doozy. A super smooth growing season in South Africa meant white wines with gorgeous, clean fruit and soaring aromatics. This one also has a great mineral streak and wonderful natural acidity, thanks in large part to the maritime influence of the nearby Pacific Ocean.
