Damien Pinon is the third generation of his family to naturally farm Chenin Blanc in the chalky soils of Vernou-sur-Brenne in the appellation of Vouvray. His vines are old, creating lush, expressive white wines.
The Tuffo cuvee is intensely aromatic and loaded with flavors of quince and apple. It has a wonderful complexity to it, hitting at first with burst of fresh fruit and finishing with a vibrant minerality. This beauty is incredibly food friendly, a great compliment for everything from roasted chicken, to fish in rich sauces to grilled sausages.

Herve Fabre’s Torrontes is an electric, fantastic bottle of wine for the price tag. It’s a crisp, mineral-laced white wine treat from our good friend, and one of Argentina’s very best. Crafted in Valle de Uco in the Mendoza region, this delicious white offers delicate aromas of white flowers, orange blossom with a touch of lime that adds a wonderful lift to the wine.
This is an excellent Bourgogne Blanc made in a fantastic spot in particular for growing Chardonnay. The vines here are all at least 30 years of age and impart serious character into the wine. On the nose, this leads with fresh aromas of citrus fruits and white flowers. On the palate, the wine showcases that character and intensity with refreshing acidity and a lively and persistent finish.
The sandy soil of north Piemonte is home to the appellation Roero and the indigenous variety, Arneis. Stefano Almondo is a master of the rare variety, crafting aromatic and mineral wines that rival any of the best white wines in Italy. The newly released 2021 Vigne Sparse dazzles right out of the bottle; floral and fruity with juicy peaches and apricots yet with a chalky mineral streak as well. As always, it’s such a complex white and the kicker is its finish which goes on for a minute of pure joy.

“The wine’s prominent vineyard signature or “sense of place” is its core driving feature, and this character is both clearly defined and focused in the wine’s flavor and structure. It shows real authority and great authenticity. Aromatically layered and complex with fresh raspberry and red cherry fruits, then rose petal and thyme, and an underlying mossy, woodsy edge. The wine’s fruit is initially crunchy and crisp before turning darker to sleek and succulent cassis and black cherry. As the wine expands, it grows in volume and mineral focus then finishes long, persistent, and penetrating, with great clarity of flavor and spicy intensity.”
