Some of you may remember over the summer when we offered the Código 1530 Tequila Rosa (Melissa’s Secret Stash). Stored briefly in white Oak Napa Valley wine barrels from one of the most prestigious wineries in the country (can’t say because of an NDA), the Rosa drank like a dream. That Tequila spent just one month in those barrels. Today’s Tequila, had a two year slumber.
One of the more rare bottles of Tequila (just 150 cases total), the Barrel Strength Anejo bottling comes in at a whopping 88 Proof, though it’s so smooth and seamlessly blended that you really never feel any of the heat. Produced using 2-3 times more agave than standard practice, this one is super smooth with notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, and toasted caramel. Just 24 bottles to go round.

A new High West release is always met with a ton of anticipation, but if you’re a fan of the Cabernet Cask finishes on Bourbons and Tequilas like I am, then this one is 100% right up your alley. The aromas absolutely drip out of the bottle—a mix of cherries, oranges, and chocolate dance on the tongue, followed by some nuttiness intertwined with a hint of the used Cabernet barrel. It’s got some spice to it, a little hickory smoke, and some dark cocoa notes at the end that keep you coming back over and over again.
The Adaptation Cabernet allows superstar winemaker Jeff Owens to make a Cabernet with other Bordeaux varietals from a collection of the top vineyards from across the valley. This is PlumpJack’s “Quilt” so to speak. It features Cabernet along the Silverado Trail in Stag’s Leap from their own Odette Vineyards as well as Heitz’s Trailside Vineyard, to go with fruit from St. Helena, Chaix’s vineyard in Rutherford, Merlot form mountainous terrain of Howell Mountain, along with fruit from Oak Knoll, and Carneros. Together, this blend comes together effortlessly Owens, who has woven a particularly juicy, dark-fruited Cab that will knock peoples’ socks off.
The 30 Year Old from The Dalmore should be a staple in every scotch drinker’s collection. It’s carefully nurtured over time through a combination of Graham’s Colheita Port casks which previously held the rare Graham’s 1982 single harvest port. This gives this one a hint of sweetness, and tons of pure, balanced whisky in perfect harmony. It’s rich, but not over the top and there’s equal fruit and spice notes that play together so nicely.
I’m once again doing a little something special for this made-up holiday. I held back 24 bottles each from three of my favorite single barrel sourcing projects of the year and decided to package them all together in a 3-pack, go out at an outrageous price and create a little Black Friday magic. Each Whiskey Trio includes:
1 btl. Knob Creek Nicholas Single Barrel Reserve Rye #4
1 btl. Whistle Pig Piggyback Nicholas Single Barrel Small Batch 6-Year Rye
1 btl. Knob Creek Nicholas Single Barrel Reserve Bourbon #5
