There is very little doubt that Chateau Palmer is one of the best producers of wine in the world. The famous Margaux winery of rich history was one famous purchased by the Pereire brothers, the rivals of the Rothschild Family in 1853. Because of the purchase so close to the the 1855 classification, they weren’t able to bring their chateau to a First Growth level in time and as such we’re placed in the Third Growths.
Still, there is little doubt of the Chateau’s excellence– it’s long been considered one of the best. That reputation has only grown since 2004, when the winemaking control was passed to Thomas Duroux, the famous former winemaker of Tenuta Dell’Ornellaia. Duroux’s 2015 vintage was especially one to remember as he saw his 1st label receive a perfect 100-point score from James Suckling and the Alter Ego receive a resounding 96-point score as well.
In my opinion, this is easily one of the best bargains in the other-worldly 2015 vintage from the big name players. This is the 2nd label from the iconic Chateau Palmer (not a 2nd wine, don’t call it a 2nd wine!) but as Jeb Dunnuck correctly put it, “it’s a sensational wine on its own.” I also happen to have the best price in the country on this wine shipped directly from the Chateau. $400/btl for the 1st wine, just $89/btl today. This is a great collector’s wine and makes for an ideal gift this holiday season.

96 Points, James Suckling
This is sensational, characterized by such purity and beauty and with aromas of blackberries, dark chocolate, walnuts, cedar and lavender. Full-bodied, tight and focused — in part thanks to sensational tannin tension that is intense yet polished. Needs five to six years of bottle age to come together. Great second wine of Palmer.
95 Points, Wine Enthusiast
This is a beautifully perfumed wine. It has ripe black fruits that shoot through the richness. It has a velvet texture, rounded and already smooth. There is just a shot of tannin and the hint of wood at the end. (Barrel Sample)

Anne Sery describes her Trousse Chemise Cabernets as an ode to the Left Bank and her winemaking roots. It’s a beautiful and fresh Cabernet with aromas that leap from the glass with of black raspberry, violets, and creme de liquor notes. The mouth gives generous amounts of juicy black fruits at the core with hints of baking spice and a smooth, savory finish. This is a terrific partner for just about anything from hard cheese, to poultry, summer salads, you name it!
#3 Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2021
96 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate – 95 Points, Wine Spectator
We are one of the very few folks who have Wine Spectator’s #3 Wine of the Year. This is definitely not one to miss. The 2016 vintage showcases this prized vineyard in all its glory; notes of wild black fruit, thyme, mint, eucalyptus, and bay are lifted and enjoyed with the polished tannin and mouthwatering freshness of this wine. Regarded as one of the best vintages in the last few decades, the 2016 Martha’s Vineyard has been aged to perfection for immediate enjoyment at release and will continue to reward for the next 20+ years.
#24 Wine of the Year (2022), Wine Spectator
92 Points, Wine Spectator – 91 Points, James Suckling
“This supple red shows a core of cherry and plum fruit allied to olive, juniper and tobacco notes. Delivers well-integrated tannins and acidic structure, lingering nicely on the finish.”
The newly released Fiancetto Howell Mt. Cabernet is a dream – a gorgeous, elegant dark-fruited Cabernet Sauvignon that is it picks up time in the glass, unfurls its full signature of cedar laced cassis nose and mid palate of chocolate-covered cherries and savory spices. Only four palates of this (224 cases) were made off a gorgeous, sprawling high elevation spot 1500 feet above sea level. It’s full and plush and finishes fresh and oh so long. The price is crazy for Howell Mountain Cabernet but that’s what Ry Richards and Fiancetto is all about.
