Chateau Grand Moulin Macquin Montagne Saint Emilion 2016

Categories , ,

Due to tiny yields, bored international collectors, and a record-high yuan upon release – these will be hard wines to come by at reasonable prices. As every top critic was careful to lay out, due to near perfect conditions at harvest, 2016 is a vintage that is simply fantastic from “top to bottom,” making not only for 100-pointers that will age gracefully for 4 decades, but also for magnificent “sleepers” from the Right Bank’s off the radar estates.

And there are a good number of truly off-the-radar estates that make delicious wine but in quantities too small to catch the consistent interest of US importers like today’s stunning Grand Moulin Macquin. Perhaps no estate is more off the radar and with just 6 hectares under vine, most vintages very few cases even make it stateside.

And what about the 2016? Only 40 six-packs imported for the entire country! – all earmarked for Nicholas Wines. Bold and plush – with bright blueberries – held up by thin tight tannin. The finish is long and refined.

Original price was: $25.00.Current price is: $19.00.

From the outstanding 97-point vintage in Bordeaux’s Right Bank. This Montagne Saint-Emilion represents exceptional value. Due to tiny yields, only 40 six-packs made it stateside and after tasting this, I took them all. Bold and plush – with bright blueberries and cherries – held up by thin tight tannins. The finish is long and refined.
