Caymus Red Schooner Voyage 12

This unique wine showcases the innovation and winemaking prowess of the family behind Caymus. It starts in some of the highest-elevation vineyards in Argentina’s Andes Mountains and then the fruit is harvested and super-chilled just above freezing for its ocean voyage to Napa Valley, where Charlie Wagner works his magic at their state-of-the-art facility. The result? A Malbec unlike any other – big plum, cherry and chocolate flavors with silky tannins. The Wagners call it their “iron fist in a velvet glove” for good reason.

Original price was: $54.00.Current price is: $44.99.

ADD A CASE (Save 10%)

The newest Voyage from the Wagner family has arrived (after a long hiatus) and I can report that it’s another fantastic rendition of a wine that is making quite a name for itself. This one was worth the wait. It’s classic Caymus style– big, juicy and fruit-forward and perfect dinner company for grilled meat.

With some of the best Malbec grapes from the highest appellations of the Andes Mountains, the Wagner family brings the fruit back to their state of the art facility in Napa and then finish it in the same style as their flagship Special Selection Cabernet (that runs for $245/btl now).  That’s probably why this wine is of the “no-brainer” variety.

I don’t quite know what makes these wines so popular, but getting the Voyage from the Wagners hasn’t been an easy task. In fact, the 10 cases I just got are the only ones that were available at the moment.
