“The 2020 ‘Tenuta Nuova’ Brunello is a once again a gorgeous wine from the Neri Family. It delivers beautifully perfumed aromatics of red cherries and red berries, layered with floral tones, exotic spices, orange zest, and herbal nuances. Medium-bodied and effortlessly silky, it offers a finely tuned structure with impeccable balance and precision. The vibrant red fruit is lifted by a lively, crystalline acidity that imparts exceptional freshness and energy, carrying gracefully through the refined, lingering finish. While already incredibly appealing in its youth, this is a truly age-worthy Brunello with the structure to evolve beautifully over time.”

“Hints of cherry and pepper leaves, with touches of iodine. Opens on the palate juicy and taut, then expands in breadth and depth. Brackish-sapid tannins and an official trace mark the very deep finish, great drink and long persistence.”

99 Points, International Wine Report
The 2019 ‘Tenuta Nuova’ Brunello di Montalcino is always one of the most exciting wines from the region and it is once again nothing short of brilliant. This begins to impress with gorgeous ripe characteristics of blackberries and dark cherries along with warm exotic spices, crushed wildflowers, toasted nuances, and hints of wild herbs that all form the incredibly nuanced aromatics. The palate is medium to full-bodied and remarkably structured with beautifully defined contours. This goes on to impress with outstanding concentration and balance, with a beautiful ripe core which is underlined by a lovely streak of acidity that provides wonderful freshness heading into the long finish. This is an utterly fascinating wine from Casanova de Neri that should be quite accessible in its youth and go on to offer a drinking window that should easily spans two decades.

97 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate
“In my mind, this is the wine that best represents the Casanova di Neri house style. With 30 months of aging in tonneaux, it shows enormous richness and texture, and the stellar fruit quality appears with more primary elegance compared to the more expensive Cerretalto that is released with an extra year of aging. That dynamic is especially pronounced in a comparison of the 2019 and 2018 vintages. The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova has a dark vein of toasted spice, black fruit, ink, blackberry compote, licorice and star anise. Dark as night, it is exceptionally well crafted with a robust delivery of concentrated fruit and solid tannic structure. You can count on excellent cellar potential, or at a minimum, serve it with a classic steak.”

“A jeweled ruby color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova takes things to the next level at this estate. Offering a deeply layered bouquet of kirsch, dark chocolate, crushed rosemary, and lavender oils, on the palate it’s rich with flavors of blood orange oils, velvety tannins, warming spice, and a long finish that soars above and beyond, with saline accents taking it to the next level. The bouquet in incredible and keeps going for ages. It spent 36 months in 500-liter used barrels Drink 2026-2046.”

Casanova di Neri is one of the best, most highly regarded wineries in all of Montalcino, Tuscany. Their calling card is their Brunello di Montalcinos – always super highly rated and touted for their incredible agability. Then again, it’s a lot easier to make great wine when you own the uber-famous Cerretalto Vineyard! That is simply one of the greatest Sangiovese sites on this planet.

The sustainable, family-owned winery makes a number of different Brunelli and in special vintages bottle a flagship Riserva as well. Everything these guys do is first class, and while none of it is cheap, it represents some of the greatest values in all of Tuscany. You know this is a serious estate though – Biondi Santi and these guys are the only ones that charge $80+/bottle for their ‘Rosso di Montalcino’. That should tip you off that these guys are pretty special and in elite company in Tuscany.
