Carlo Ferrini is one of the most decorated winemakers in all of Italy. We’re talking multiple ‘Winemaker of the Year’ awards and his own label in Montalcino that has received numerous 100-point reviews. When Carlo Ferrini puts his name on something, you have to pay attention. But here’s what makes Carpineta Fontalpino so special: Carlo isn’t working alone. His partner Gioia Cresti is a star viticulturist and wine farmer who has spent her career working on some of the greatest vineyards in all of Italy. Together they’re like the Anne Favia and Andy Erickson of Italy: two world-class talents combining their superpowers from vineyard to cellar, producing wines that are smooth, seamless, and completely overdeliver every single time.

The Fontalpino estate has been certified organic since 2008, farming 30 hectares of vines near Siena at the foot of the Montaperti hill -yep, that same one immortalized in Dante’s Divine Comedy. Minimal intervention, light oak, pure Tuscan fruit. This is serious winemaking at a price that should be (and usually is) much higher than it is today.
