Botromagno Primitivo 2023

The 2023 vintage showcases everything great about serious Puglia winemaking. Aromas of cedar spice, crushed stone, and dried blueberries lead to a creamy, silky texture that maintains remarkable balance. You have some wild cherry, strawberry, rhubarb and blueberry notes that explode across the palate with a hint of sweetness and some baking spice that sneaks in towards the end. This is Primitivo with both power and elegance – it can stand up to pretty much anything you want to pair it with at the cook out, but especially the steaks!

This is Primitivo (Italian Zinfandel) from the region of Puglia, where the D’Agostino family has been quietly perfecting Primitivo since 1991. What makes Botromagno special isn’t just their unique, landmark partnership with over 100 local grape growers – it’s their obsessive attention to detail that most producers skip or gloss over.

Primitivo naturally produces low yields and requires special vineyard care, but the D’Agostinos take it even further by planting at higher elevations to accentuate acidity and finesse. That’s a lot of tender love and care for a wine under $20/bottle and it pays off in spades!
