Booker Vineyard launched, “my favorite neighbor” as a series that welcomes collaboration (and some lower pricing than their usual stuff) but still at an exceptionally high quality.
Their 2020 Chardonnay is a serious number, more than worthy of the big 95-point score that Parker’s Wine Advocate bestowed upon it. It’s a rich, full-bodied expression with aromas of lemon, lime, pear and granny smith apple with a round middle of brioche. There’s a lot of good acid here to hold everything together and its pretty flawlessly put together. That’s probably why the Wine Advocate signed off by calling it, “super classy”

Just 20 cases of this crazy small, rare and elite import managed to find their wine to America, and I scooped up five of them for Nicholas wines. This is a fabulous Cru Sancerre that showcases one of the finest vineyards in Sancerre from the lights-out 2019 vintage in the Loire Valley. It comes from Cul de Beaujeu, one of Chavignol’s most famous vineyards, with an incline of up to 60 degrees! It’s old-vine Sancerre grown on Kimmeridgian clay and limestone with all the vineyard work and harvesting done by hand. It truly represents the creme de la creme.
A large glass is necessary to capture the brilliant aromatics of Talmard’s Macon Uchizy. Aromas of ripe Meyer lemon, peach, honey and mint just blast from the glass upon pouring. The wine takes on weight with aeration, developing flavors of crisp green apple, juicy peach and lemon custard. The finish is long and fresh, so good with food. Roast some salmon, make sweet corn risotto, use it as an aperitif, it’s a great choice for a house white to be enjoyed all year round.

If you’ve ever tried this stunning, classic Bordeaux of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle, then you know why. The new 2022 vintage has arrived and it’s beaming with energy and pure stone fruits. This is a beauty as always.
It’s no wonder this is a hot little ticket amongst some of NYC’s best restaurants; this is a killer wine at a great price. The 2022 Petit Chablis has an attractive nose of citrus rind, white flowers, and wet stone. In the palate, the wine is racy and mineral with just a touch of salinity. The hallmark of the great 2022s will be tension and length and Sébastien’s little wine has both in spades. The acidic/mineral cut will make this fantastic at the table and a great candidate for short term aging.
