Bodegas Lanzaga Corriente Bueno de Diario Rioja 2020

Bodega Lanzaga is one of Rioja’s elite and a perennial critical darling. Telmo Rodríguez and his partner and friend Pablo Eguzkiza set up Compañia de Vinos Telmo Rodriguez in 1994. In 1998, while working at Telmo’s family winery Remelluri in Rioja Alavesa, they started to buy old vineyard sites around the town of Lanciego. Bodega Lanzaga was born shortly thereafter.

The term Corriente was used in the early 20th Century to describe good, approachable everyday wines drunk by ordinary people, that reflect their region. Creamy and spicy, combining berries, spicy oak and earthy tannins, it makes an excellent food wine. This is an absolute gem, and comes from certified organically farmed grapes – a new, hot trend in Rioja, if you can afford to make the switch.
