There simply is not a more delicious, higher-rated, better value than what you’re getting in this unbelievably good Spanish Red. It’s so lively yet smooth, powerful yet poised and it’s an absolute delight to drink. I don’t know if it was that it matched the pizza I was eating perfectly, or if it was one of those ‘Swiss army knife-type’ wines that really just works for any and all occasions. Either way, this is an ‘every day’ wine that I would buy by the case again and again!

This Monastrell-Syrah-Petit-Verdot blend combines beautiful fruit and florality. Boysenberry and muddled blackberry effortlessly converge with black raspberry and subtle vanilla baking spice on the nose. Black fruit flavors and grippy tannins go back and forth on the palate and end in a truce on the floral-lifted finish.
Ego Bodegas is a little bit different than the typical Spanish winery that has a long linerage of family winemakers and deep ties to the land. Instead, it was a couple that saw an opening and built a winery with the goal of bringing the highest quality, price and aesthetic to the table with their wine.
Going against the grain, the couple has an incredible ability to create memorable wines, even while trying to manage the financial constraints of trying to launch a winery from scratch. One thing is for certain, if you haven’t tried any of these wines yet, you have to change that immediately. These are some of the finest values in Spain and beyond.
