Domaine Barolet-Pernot is a family-owned winery located in Saint-Romain in France’s famed Burgundy region. It has been in existence for four generations and is known for producing high-quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and their reputation is growing rapidly with the latest generation.
Armed with beautiful vineyards in Saint-Romain, Auxey-Duresses, Puligny-Montrachet, and Beaune, it’s been 4th generation winemaker Romain who has helped boost this winery to never before seen heights. Since 2017, Romain has managed the entire Saint-Romain estate navigating the complexities of the vigneron path with a meticulous drive.
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Romain Barolet for almost 90 minutes on my last trip to France and he blew me away. You can tell his drive is second to none and its one that I see less and less these days! There’s something incredibly special in the way he creates mineral-laden, scintillating Puligny-Montrachet out of old vines and high altitude.
