94 Points, Wine Advocate – 92 Points, Decanter – 92 Points, James Suckling

“The 2024 Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc leads with a complex nose of sweet pea, cassis bramble, gooseberry, elderflower, preserved citrus and brine. In the mouth, the wine is concentrated and detailed, with fresh energy and zip ensconced in textural folds of phenolics. This is a gorgeous wine and comes highly recommended.” -Parker’s Wine Advocate

92 Points, Decanter
Quite a complex style, layered aromatics with hint of riper tropical fruit accompanying more classic green fruit. Juicy mid-weight flavours on the palate are freshened by tangy acidity. Vibrant and salivating with a consistent finish.
92 Points, James Suckling
Aromas of bell peppers, lemons and cut grass. The light-bodied palate shows tightly wound acidity, giving notes of passion fruit, lime curd and river stones. Nicely constructed with a mineral edge.

This is the site of Marlborough’s first colonial vineyard, established in the 1800s by David Herd. But Auntsfield Estate isn’t just making wine on historic ground – they’re also making some of the most distinctive, complex Sauvignon Blanc in all of New Zealand.

What makes Auntsfield so special is a mix of location and philosophy. While most Marlborough vineyards sit on the valley floor with alluvial soils, Auntsfield’s hillside vineyards in the Southern Valleys feature Greywacke rock overlaid with fine Loess clay. That clay gives the wine a rounded weightiness and succulent richness you rarely find in New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc – more like white Burgundy or Bordeaux Blanc. These wines are so worth seeking out across the board.
