Astrolabe Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2022

Astrolabe which translates to ‘star taker’ is the baby of career winemaker Simon Waghorn as part of his own label. Aiming high, he figured the name was appropriate.

Right away, his stylistic approach, unique terroir and pristine expressions became a big hit with consumers and critics alike. New Zealand’s leading Master of Wine, Bob Campbell, a big fan himself, calls the wine ‘Sauvignon Supremo’.

Amazingly enough, even though Astrolabe has been around nearly 25 years, this is Simon and company’s highest rated Sauvignon Blanc to date. It earned a THUNDEROUS 94-point review from America’s stingiest critic, Wine Spectator, who led off their review by calling this wine a “stunning version”.

Sure it has the signature New Zealand tropical flavors and gooseberry and passionfruit nose, but it has a lot more to offer than just that. It also boasts streaks of gorgeous salinity, some waves of lemongrass and jasmine and a special dry, fruity finish that manages to be both succulent and spicy.

Original price was: $23.00.Current price is: $19.99.
