Aresca makes their ‘San Luigi’ Barbera as an ode to their grandfather founder, so it’s a special wine made with a lot of thought and care. It’s crafted only from select vineyards with perfect exposures (from SE to SW) around Nizza Monferrato village. These sites maintain tiny yields of just 7 tons per hectare, resulting in a complex, intense wine with extraordinary aging potential.

Wine Enthusiast awarded it 94 points and their prestigious “Cellar Selection” designation, even putting it as a ‘Top 100 Cellar Selection of the Year; despite its modest price tag. They found the palate “fresh and inviting in this beautifully composed wine that offers depth, elegance, and balance.” I’m telling you, I think this is going to be one of the finest examples of this grape you can try.

The Aresca estate was founded in 1952 by brothers Luigi and Piero, and is now run by the third generation. Their vineyards are situated in the Monferrato area – part of the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato wine district, a UNESCO World Heritage site celebrated for its winemaking tradition.
