This baby spent 8 years in barrel and was bottled at 91.2 Proof. It was crafted with sweet and delicate wheat instead of the more traditional rye, this bourbon is quite distinctive from most. The soft wheat delivers a subtle and smooth taste with gentle layers of flavor. Each sip expresses a harmony of sweetness and dryness. It’s an absolute winner and maybe the best bottle of whiskey that Barton’s 1792 makes. Unfortunately, I only have one bottle– but somebody is about to be very happy.

Rich and creamy notes of toasted oak, vanilla, caramel, and fresh baked sourdough immediately flood the senses as soon as you pop this one open. Bottled at 100-Proof, you get a little bit of heat on the front palate followed by rich oak, burnt sugar and freshly baked bread. As it starts to open, you get some sweeter, creamy vanilla notes that creep in as well as campfire s’mores and a dash of pepper. The finish is long, and very memorable and leaves you wanting more.
When my yearly allocation came in for W.L. Weller, I was pleased to find out that I was granted a few ‘bonus bottles’ by the powers that be. Hey, you know I’m not arguing. I only got a few more the Single Barrel, 12-Year and the Antique so I decided to put those into 3-packs and sell those as well. Get in while you can, I only have three. Each 3-pack sampler includes 1 bottle each of the following:
Weller Single Barrel (orange)
Weller 12 year (black)
Old Weller Antique (red)
This is a very rare beauty and one of the few private barrels that Jefferson’s does at 100 Proof. It leads with sweet aroma of warm panatone. Then the sweet delectable taste of fruit and honey. A warm burning at the end. And the flavor of this nectar stays on your taste buds more than a couple of minutes. Best consumed relaxing and enjoying on a chilly winter day.
This particular beauty is not only Barrel Proof but also sees extended aging in 18-year old ex-Bourbon barrels which I think adds some roundness and weight to the mid-palate and gives you a smoother finished product. Another advantage that Old Hickory has is they have Pam Soule, Seagrams master blender in charge, and she has helped their quality reach heights never seen before from this historic distillery.
