Usually, late summer I go down to Bardstown, Kentucky to pick out my barrel, but this year, with a totally slammed schedule, my friends at 1792 paid me a visit instead. They brought 12 different barrel samples and told me if I didn’t like any of them, there were more options. Lucky for them, sample #9 was an instant winner.
This is a 100 Proof Bottled-in-Bond beauty. If the regular version was good enough to be a Top 10 Whiskey Advocate Whiskey of the Year, just picture how good a Nicholas Barrel Select must be. As far as I know, I’m the only one in New Jersey getting their own barrel. Years of support paid off big time.

1792 Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a non-age statement bourbon which fits the criteria of the Bottled in Bond act that was established in 1897. It comes from only barrels filled during the same distilling season and is bottled at exactly 100 proof making it one of the more pure, bold expressions coming out of Kentucky each year. Sazerac made a home-run purchase when they bought 1792 and their iconic lineup back in 2009.
