Europe’s most famous wine critic, Jancis Robinson called Bass Phillip “the DRC of the Southern Hemisphere.” This is the creme de la creme of Australian wine. Recently, they were acquired by legendary Burgundian vigneron Jean-Marie Fourrier of Domaine Fourrier from 74-year-old founder Phillip Jones. The 2021 vintage represents the last wines made under the old regime – before Fourrier brings his Gevrey-Chambertin expertise to Australia’s most famous Pinot producer. The gorgeous Burgundian-esque 2021 Estate Chardonnay comes with some big scores and deserves every point it received if not more.
