BonAnno has been around for over two decades, typically making their Cabernet Sauvignon from a mixture of Calistoga and Oak Knoll fruit—really good wine, solid price, nothing fancy.
But the 2023 vintage in California was exceptional and really big—allowing for enormous opportunities throughout Napa Valley if you had the right resources and knew where to look.
For the first time ever, the BonAnno team decided to shoot for the stars. They secured Spring Mountain fruit from a very high-profile vineyard at almost 2,000 feet above sea level, just below the infamous fog line. The vineyard must remain nameless, but here’s what I can tell you: They rack up big scores and retail their own Spring Mountain Cabernet for $185/bottle. This was a special one-time deal that was part decades-long friendship, part right time, right place.
