Feudo Montoni Catarratto Terre Siciliane Masso 2024

91 Points, Wine Spectator

With Feudo Montoni’s recent press barrage—New York Times articles, Wine Spectator Top 100 accolades—it’s been harder and harder to snag an allocation from this star winery. But not only did I find something special from one of our favorite wineries, this is a Nicholas Wines first!

The 2024 Feudo Montoni Catarratto Terre Siciliane earned 91 points from Wine Spectator. This is a unique grape variety native to Sicily that thrives perfectly in the abundant Sicilian sun. Wine Spectator called it “fresh and balanced” with “flavors of ripe nectarine, melon, candied pink grapefruit peel and green almond underscored by a tang of salinity.” Lemon, apple, peach, honey, dried flowers—this is electric Sicilian white.

Orange blossom and tarragon notes waft through this creamy, light- to medium-bodied white. Fresh and balanced, with flavors of ripe nectarine, melon, candied pink grapefruit peel and green almond underscored by a tang of salinity that echoes on the finish. Drink now through 2030.

I don’t know that there’s a winery on earth as synonymous with a wine region as Feudo Montoni is with Sicily.

The place is straight up magical—one of the most gorgeous properties in the world. Lisa Perotti-Brown once quipped, “If I could give 100 points to a tomato sauce, I would give it to Feudo Montoni.” But even with all that, it’s the legendary wines made on this property that somehow always manage to steal the show.

The winery—one that few would argue against being the very best in Sicily—has been making top-quality wines on its historic grounds since 1469. It’s currently overseen by the uber-talented Fabio Sireci, the third generation of a family dedicated to producing the purest expressions from this long-cultivated terroir.
