It is high above the Anderson Valley, 14 minutes from the Pacific Ocean. The scent of the ocean is suspended in the air along with Alpine aromas- cedar, pine, nettles wrapped around lingonberry, Bing cherry, White strawberry, citrus, and notes of sweet vanilla on the nose. The flavors on the palate are tension of red fruit, dried herbs, baking spices, and citrus all tethered together.”

New Jersey natives, Mark and Katie Wentworth met one another in Northern California and together shared the dream of one day owning their own winery and maintaining a vineyard together. In 2014, their dream was fulfilled with a boutique, environmentally conscious winery tucked away in the woods.
Wentworth Vineyard is a distinct and exquisite viticultural site located in California’s Ancient Redwood forest near the Mendocino Coast. Sited atop a ridge near the Pacific Ocean, Mark bought the land in 2014 with the vision to plant and grow cool climate varietals and craft world-class wines.
The terroir is exceptional, thanks largely to the proximity of the Pacific Ocean–from which the ancient soils at Wentworth Vineyard are derived. The coastal influence of cooling breezes and fog which frequently rolls into the valley beneath the vineyard throughout the growing season contribute a great deal as well. Besides being breathtakingly beautiful, the site is ideal for cool-climate expressions of certain great varietals, especially Pinot Noir.
