Sourced from iron-rich clay soils in the Rioja sub-zones of Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta, Vina Bujanda’s sustainably farmed old-vines produce fresh reds that are perfect with the cuisine of summer. It’s great with anything off the grill; burgers, steaks and lamb chops for sure and after dinner, with any kind of Alpine-styled cow’s milk cheese.
For the price, it’s hard to find anything that compares to this Tempranillo, a juicy, blackberry fruited, savory wine that boasts silky smooth tannins to create the perfect candidate for your Spanish house red.
The Wine Advocate gave it 90 points and called it a “Clean and classical Tempranillo with moderate oak and clean aromas.” We couldn’t agree more!

The energetic 2016 Crianza was produced with Tempranillo grapes that fermented with selected yeasts in stainless steel and matured in used oak barrels for 12 months. It’s a clean and classical Tempranillo with moderate oak and clean aromas. It has a pleasant medium-bodied palate.
This is a beautiful Spanish house wine at an amazing value. You’ll want a bunch of these bottles around the house to pop open whenever someone is coming over or for when 5:00 rolls around!

Winemaker Pascal Sirat consistently puts out some of the best value Bordeaux in the region but he may have outdone himself in what was a stellar 2019 vintage throughout the region. Just south of Pomerol, the vines at Panchille borrow deep in the soil. The resulting wines are ripe but fresh, with an aromatic complexity and stony finish usually reserved for wine twice the price. Daniel Boulud tells me it’s been the hottest bottle of wine at Bar Boulud for over a month, so I figured I’d better hurry up and secure my allocation! Don’t miss it.
Anne Sery describes her Trousse Chemise Cabernets as an ode to the Left Bank and her winemaking roots. It’s a beautiful and fresh Cabernet with aromas that leap from the glass with of black raspberry, violets, and creme de liquor notes. The mouth gives generous amounts of juicy black fruits at the core with hints of baking spice and a smooth, savory finish. This is a terrific partner for just about anything from hard cheese, to poultry, summer salads, you name it!

Xavier Vignon’s brand spanking new CDR 100% is a thing of beauty. It’s already got a blessing from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate who described this wine as, “Full-bodied, concentrated and supple”. This is a gorgeous and intricate blend that features all of the Southern Rhone appellations. This year, the blend was 40% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, 15% Syrah, 7% Cinsault, 7% Marselan, 6% Terret Noir. Nobody can do it like the mad scientist, Xavier Vignon.

The oft 100-point winemaker, Jayson Woodbridge had this to say when tasting his 2021 ‘Stargazing’ Sonoma Pinot: “The wine is vibrant and complex with subtle dark fruits and berries, grandmother’s cherry pie, minerals, and a slight touch of rain-soaked earth, intertwined with a balance and very pleasing easy-going luxury. Should have been priced higher but what the hell.” I have no doubt this clerical error will be addressed in the vintages moving forward. But for now, this is a cult Pinot for under $100/bottle.
