Back in 1984, Rita Tua and her husband Virgilio Bisti decided to chase the rising Super Tuscan fame. Together, they locked into 37 acres in Tuscany, planting both Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot before expanding a few years later to 55 acres.
In 1992, Tua Rita released its first vintage, quickly gaining acclaim for its rich, full-bodied wines. Within five years, their Redigaffi bottling achieved cult status, receiving outstanding ratings from renowned critics like Robert M. Parker Jr., who hailed the 1999 Redigaffi as “as close to perfection as a wine can get.” The following year, he gave it a perfect 100 score. Needless to say, that changed everything for the pair.
Located in Suvereto, just 300 feet above sea level, Tua Rita benefits from clay and silty soils, creating wines of exceptional depth and character. Their arsenal of wines are widely considered to be some of the best in all of Italy, and are amongst the most difficult to find within the country as well.
Most of their lineup are wines priced anywhere from $50-$300/bottle, but that’s not what we have today. We have their outrageous ‘Dei Notri’ Rosso Tuscan value – a gorgeous Red blend consisting primarily of Sangiovese with small amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. It is a succulent, inviting full-bodied Red with lots to give.

93 Points, James Suckling
A pretty red with blackberries, blueberries and sage, as well as dried flowers. Medium body with light, fine tannins and a fresh finish. One of the best I have had. Drink now or hold.
90 Points, Wine Spectator
A bright, focused red, offering cherry, raspberry, floral and earth flavors. Fluid and graceful, this leaves a light coating of tannins on the tangy finish.
Anne Sery describes her Trousse Chemise Cabernets as an ode to the Left Bank and her winemaking roots. It’s a beautiful and fresh Cabernet with aromas that leap from the glass with of black raspberry, violets, and creme de liquor notes. The mouth gives generous amounts of juicy black fruits at the core with hints of baking spice and a smooth, savory finish. This is a terrific partner for just about anything from hard cheese, to poultry, summer salads, you name it!
At J Vineyards, Nicole is nothing short of a magician, making 30 different skus or more each vintage between her Pinots, Chardonnays, and Sparkling wines. For the vineyard’s flagship Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, up to 100 individual small lots are combined to make this great wine. Somehow, the blend is effortless–a quintessential RRV Pinot that has those soaring aromatics, bright red fruits, clove, and nutmeg spice with perfect balance.
94 Points, Tasting Panel
This is a really exciting new release in the collection of single-vineyards from the Wagner Family, and arguably the most interesting one of the bunch. This is the only Pinot Noir in the Caymus collection that has the advantage of being from a natural Pinot Noir haven in the Russian River Valley. Dairyman Vineyard’s proximity to the pacific ocean, with its morning fog and afternoon coastal breezes allows for an even and elongated growing season, with super concentrated and expressive grape clusters that help make this Dijon clone Pinot Noir one that you need.
The newly released Fiancetto Howell Mt. Cabernet is a dream – a gorgeous, elegant dark-fruited Cabernet Sauvignon that is it picks up time in the glass, unfurls its full signature of cedar laced cassis nose and mid palate of chocolate-covered cherries and savory spices. Only four palates of this (224 cases) were made off a gorgeous, sprawling high elevation spot 1500 feet above sea level. It’s full and plush and finishes fresh and oh so long. The price is crazy for Howell Mountain Cabernet but that’s what Ry Richards and Fiancetto is all about.
