Tommasi’s brand new Rafaèl Valpolicella comes from the estate’s oldest vineyards and is absolutely bursting with energy right out of the gates. This is easily one of the best under-$20 bottles you can find from the Veneto. It overdelivers in spades. It’s big and juicy with red berry, black cherry and floral aromas and some savory and floral notes on the mouth as well that balances the ripe fruit, earth and spice. This is one of those red wines that absolutely shines at a table packed with good food.

A tank-fermented, lighter weight expression that is perfect straight out the fridge while wiping the sweat from the brow. Effusive and fresh with winning, gulpable simplicity, the keys to success. A thread of herbal tannins guide the flavors to an effortless, almost guilty pleasure, accentuated by a noble bitterness at the finish. Thrills with a chill! Drink now.

The Tomassi family is a big time in the Italian wine industry especially in the Veneto. They’ve been at this for four generations now, with a rich history that dates all the way back to 1902. The family has slowly grown their holdings as their reputation grew without the 20th century and now own a whopping 800 hectares of land in some of Italy’s most prestigious wine regions, including Valpolicella, Soave, and Sicily.

The gem of their portfolio is the Rafael Valpolicella Classico Superiore. It’s named after the first vineyard the family purchased in the Valpolicella Classica zone and represents the oldest vines the family has. This wine is known for its elegance, balance, and expressive fruit flavors.
