Think of this wine exactly the way you think about The Mascot in relation to Harlan and Bond. Same sites. Same winemaking team. Same obsessive philosophy. Just the younger vines, which means the same iconic Bolgheri terroir at a fraction of the price. This is what a true super second is supposed to be, and in most years the Guidalberto is flat-out better than most people’s very best wine. One-fifth the price of Sassicaia from the same legendary address.

The 2024 vintage in Bolgheri is already looking to be exceptional, and unsurprisingly, this wine is out in front of the charge. 95 points from James Suckling, who dubbed this “Juicy and subtle” with “very soft yet fine tannins.” This is a 50/50 Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot Super Tuscan blend that is going to deliver in spades for the next decade and a half and do it for a heck of a lot less than its flagship sibling.
