The Frescobaldi family has an incredibly rich history in Tuscany dating back to medieval Florence. For the last 700 years, they’ve been growing wine in Tuscany. Slowly and carefully, they have purchased estates, giving them access to all sorts of terroir throughout some of the most prime locations in all of Tuscany.
With properties along the hills of Montalcino, throughout Nipozzano to the hidden gem of Castello Pomino, all the way up to Tenuta Ammiraglia by the sea, and Tenuta Perano in the heart of Chianti Classico, the wines made here all tell profoundly different stories.
The history of Tenuta Luce started back in the 1990s when Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi chose Montalcino to start a new, visionary project: to make a wine that would go beyond the borders of tradition. Little did they know they were out in front of a trend that would soon shape Tuscan wine for decades to come.
Today, the winery goes so much further than the two winemaking greats could’ve ever dreamed when they started all those years ago. The estate now has some of the most exceptional vineyards in Montalcino and, as of 2018, a state of the art winery to nurture every step of the winemaking process.

Rich cherries, cassis, fresh olives and dark spices. Svelte, fine tannins on the medium- to full-bodied palate, showing lots of juicy berries and a linear, extensive finish. Excellent length, focus and structure here.
#24 Wine of the Year (2022), Wine Spectator
92 Points, Wine Spectator – 91 Points, James Suckling
“This supple red shows a core of cherry and plum fruit allied to olive, juniper and tobacco notes. Delivers well-integrated tannins and acidic structure, lingering nicely on the finish.”

This is a really exciting new release in the collection of single-vineyards from the Wagner Family, and arguably the most interesting one of the bunch. This is the only Pinot Noir in the Caymus collection that has the advantage of being from a natural Pinot Noir haven in the Russian River Valley. Dairyman Vineyard’s proximity to the pacific ocean, with its morning fog and afternoon coastal breezes allows for an even and elongated growing season, with super concentrated and expressive grape clusters that help make this Dijon clone Pinot Noir one that you need.
This is a sensational single-vineyard Merlot made from incredibly tiny clusters, full of some of the most elegant, intensely structured fruit from high atop Sonoma Mountain. Beautiful weight and balance with aromas of blueberries, black currants, sage and a hint of cocoa. It’s got a full, plush mouthfeel, pristine and vibrant fruit and a wonderful smooth finish. Thanks to Chad’s big bet on himself, he was able to make a knockout Sonoma Mountain beauty, without the need for any middleman, helping us to enjoy one of his best creations at an outstanding price.
It’s always nice to be in good standing with one of the most beloved wine brands in America! These won’t last long! This is an opulent, powerful dark-fruited Cabernet with tightly woven tannins, that is just raring and ready to go. Textbook, full-bodied, revved up and ready to go, this new Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet is the definition of a crowd pleaser.
