I recently tasted the 2020 Tenshen White Blend, and it’s fantastic. This lush, pure-fruited blend of Viognier, Grenache Blanc, and Chardonnay offers enticing aromas of white peach, orchard fruits, and honey. On the palate, it’s rich and dense with gorgeous citrus and tropical fruit notes, finishing with remarkable vibrancy and lift.
Wine Enthusiast awarded it 90 points, praising its “Fresh apple-flesh, honeysuckle, and light lemon-butter aromas” along with the mouthwatering “steely minerality.”

Fresh apple-flesh, honeysuckle, and light lemon-butter aromas show on the nose of this blend of 60% Viognier, 30% Grenache Blanc and 10% Chardonnay. Lemon peel gives a fresh edge to the dried pear flavor of the palate, which also shows a steely minerality.
soccer star Alex Guarachi, sidelined by an injury, started experimenting with winemaking in his garage. This passion project has since blossomed into a boutique winery that’s turning heads in the California wine scene.
The winery’s big break came when Guarachi partnered with Joey Tensley, a local winemaker renowned for his high-scoring Syrahs and Rhone Blends. Unsurprisingly, Joey’s foray into white wines was an instant success, landing Tenshen in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 at #29 within just two years.
Today, Tenshen’s whites are crafted by Julian Gonzalez, a winemaking prodigy with an impressive pedigree including stints at Stag’s Leap, Dominus, and a decade crafting Paul Hobbs wines alongside the legend himself. Under Gonzalez’s guidance, Tenshen White Blend has consistently scored 90+ points year after year.
