When you’re Jayson Woodbridge, you always have to keep it interesting. Especially when you already own every accolade under the sun.
His smashing success with his brand, Hundred Acre, propelled him to worldwide stardom. Then, he followed that up with a successful spinoff for a slightly more affordable look with ‘Fortunate Son.’
But not surprisingly, the man who has accomplished so much already in Cabernet Sauvignon looks to ‘earn his chops’ with the ultimate winemaker’s grape: Pinot Noir.
Of course, Hundred Acre is already firmly established as a cult brand—the crazy long waitlist, the wine prices! Life is good for Woodbridge.
But with his ‘Summer Dreams’ project, he sets out to compete with the likes of ‘Sea Smoke,’ Marcassin, and Arnot Roberts for the ultimate Sonoma Coast Pinot cult status and show that his skills have no bounds.
Utilizing micro-vineyard blocks, the ‘Stargazing’ Pinot is Woodbridge’s lone ‘affordable’ Pinot in the deep waters of Sonoma Coast collectibles. Call it his effort to make at least one wine that can be ‘had’ by at least some folks outside of the ‘anything Jayson Woodbridge’ allocation list.

The 2019 Wentworth Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is a beauty. Made with 100% Estate Grown, organically farmed fruit from Wentworth’s noteworthy Anderson Valley vineyard. It’s made from a variety of different clones: Dijon 115, 667 and Pommard 5, that seamlessly blend to make an exciting, full-bodied Pinot. You can taste the extra flair courtesy of the 1/4 wholecluster fermentation. This is fresh and juicy and fantastic to pair with food.

Feudo Montoni has been one of the best producers in Italy for literally hundreds of years, most notably for their work with Nero D’Avola grape in Sicily. It’s a gorgeous expression at such a good price. The 2020 “Lagnusa” is the perfect pizza or Thanksgiving wine with juicy black fruits, grippy tannins and a wonderful, fresh and herbaceous finish. Vinous Media gave the wine 92 points and raved, calling it “remarkably fresh yet long, leaving the mouth watering while still resonating on hints of blackberry.” You’re going to love this.

“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is sublime. Bright and savory, with tons of energy, the 2019 captures all the personality of this tiny vineyard on Diamond Mountain. Dried rose petal, lavender, red plum, graphite and crushed rocks add layers of nuance to this mid-weight, classically built Cabernet from Dyer. In a word; superb.”
This is a sensational single-vineyard Merlot made from incredibly tiny clusters, full of some of the most elegant, intensely structured fruit from high atop Sonoma Mountain. Beautiful weight and balance with aromas of blueberries, black currants, sage and a hint of cocoa. It’s got a full, plush mouthfeel, pristine and vibrant fruit and a wonderful smooth finish. Thanks to Chad’s big bet on himself, he was able to make a knockout Sonoma Mountain beauty, without the need for any middleman, helping us to enjoy one of his best creations at an outstanding price.
