Simonnet-Febvre Saint-Bris Sauvignon 2024

The 2024 Saint-Bris showcases the best of French Sauvignon Blanc. It’s electrifying, crisp, refreshing, expressive and deep. Not all characteristics you would normally use to describe the grape. But this is exactly what makes this wine and this region so special.

From 25+ year-old vines planted in cooler areas to enable slow, deliberate ripening, this is an intricate and sophisticated in a way that Marlborough simply cannot touch. Fresh citrus, grass cuttings, lemon-lime and grapefruit on the nose with white flowers and exotic fruit adding real complexity. Lively and crisp on the palate with a mineral backbone that could only be from Burgundy. This will absolutely ‘WOW’ Sancerre lovers, AND it costs a fraction of what great Sancerre runs these days. It’s a home-run.

Founded in 1840, Simonnet-Febvre is amongst the oldest producers in Chablis and has become a benchmark for the region. Under uber-talented winemaker Jean-Philippe Archambaud, they’ve built an elite reputation with holdings that include a crown jewel plot in Grand Cru Les Preuses.

They have built a reputation on making pure and focused wines that express their terroir with an elegant mineral backbone, and they’re the only winery in Chablis to maintain the century-old tradition of producing Crémant de Bourgogne and they’re also one of the few who have the gusto to try their hand at this wine: the Saint-Bris Sauvignon from the only area of Burgundy where planting Sauvignon is allowed.
