Traveller Whiskey is an exciting new collaborative ongoing release from Buffalo Trace Distillery’s Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley and world-famous musician Chris Stapleton. The man might sing about Tennessee whiskey, but he was born in Lexington and had the good sense to pair with Sazerac to make his own. This partnership, born from a shared artistic philosophy of experimentation and refinement, involved testing over 50 blends before settling on Blend #40 (hence the name.)
While legally defined as a blended whiskey, Sazerac, the parent company, has clarified that Traveller Whiskey’s current formulation contains no grain neutral spirits. The precise distilleries contributing to this unique combination of hand-selected whiskeys remain undisclosed, though it’s confirmed to be a novel blend from multiple Sazerac-owned sources. Notably, this marks Buffalo Trace’s first celebrity collaboration, with both Wheatley and Stapleton credited as “Co-Founder” on the label, and the whiskey is intended for broad distribution and accessibility.
